About SSN
Built from practice, trust and local understanding.
Who we are
Security should be part of the plan, not something people have to ask for later.
How SSN began
Secure Storyteller Network began officially in 2024. It grew from informal community support offered in response to individual requests.
Over time, we saw a clear need for security to be built naturally into planning, rather than treated as something people had to ask for later.
Who shapes the work
SSN was developed by filmmakers and security practitioners. Today, we work with trusted trainers and advisers across filmmaking, legal awareness, digital safety, archiving, emerging technology and wellbeing.
Our trainers have experience in teaching, facilitation, public speaking and working with creative teams across different contexts.
For specific programmes, we may also invite local practitioners and community leaders. Their knowledge helps connect the work to participants’ language, culture and working conditions.
Our work so far
Since 2024, SSN has trained more than 160 filmmakers, storytellers and content producers through 16 workshops and training programmes.
Working with care
To sustain trusted relationships and work with care, SSN remains deliberately small. This helps us stay responsive, adapt to context and maintain continuity over time.
